The Short list
For those who missed the news last month, stage one of the Flinders Street Station Design Competition has been completed. From the 118 entries received 6 schemes from the following architects have been shortlisted
- Ashton Raggatt McDougall (Melbourne)
- John Wardle Architects + Grimshaw (Australia and UK)
- HASSELL + Herzog & de Meuron (Melbourne and Switzerland)
- NH Architecture (Melbourne)
- Eduardo Velasquez + Manuel Pineda + Santiago Medina (Columbia via University of Melbourne)

The Long List
To make the most of the momentum generated by the competition, the architectural firm Edwards and Moore are convening a discussion and private exhibition of the non selected ‘long list’ entries. The long list includes some fantastic architectural practices such as:
- 6 degrees
- Design Inc
- Elenberg Fraser
- Fender Katselidis Architects
- HAW
I can also reveal that The Red and Black Architect, having completed an entry into the competition, will also be participating in the Long List event! I will endeavor to provide some commentary and analysis of the work in my next post.
The competition is scheduled for completion mid 2013 at which time I will be publishing the full detail of my design for Flinders Street Station
In the meantime, for those wanting a sneak peak of some of the other entries not shortlisted, the following site has a selection of competition images.
